Egg Crazy - Are You An "Egger"?

When my husband and I started raising emus and rheas 15 years ago, I never dreamed it would take me to where I am today. In 1998, I had so many blown eggs I did not know what I was going to do with all of them. I got on the internet and found out about the world of egg art and the people that decorate them. "Eggers" is the term that they like to be called. I joined various egg art discussion groups, and started to sell my blown emu and rhea eggs.
I have always drawn and painted. When I saw a book about painting animals on rocks, I thought "Well, I don't have any rocks, but I have lots of eggs". So I started painting animals on eggs and making custom stands for the eggs to sit in. From there I have gone into making Faberge style eggs such as custom jewelry boxes, engagement ring boxes, ring bearer boxes, animated music boxes, kaleidoscopes, and personalized Christmas ornaments.
I knew that I was truly an "Egger" when I started to look around in every store that I went into to see "Can this be used on an egg?". What is even more amazing is now my husband does the same thing. He is going into stores with me going "Hey Stephanie, can you use this on an egg?". I don't think he will admit it, but he is an "Egger" to.
We started our web site, EggCrazy.com, in September 2004. Most people think there would not be a demand for blown eggs, egg supplies, and decorated eggs year around. However, the egg art world is growing with lots of people chooseing this as their hobby of choice. So if you are looking for a new hobby, or just want to add to or start a collection of one of a kind eggs, please give our web site a visit. You might just become an "Egger" too.
