Weaving Thoughts

When I was a child in Pennsylvania, I used to watch my mother weave baskets and wonder why she did it. All I knew was that we used her baskets to hold popcorn on rainy Sunday afternoons while we watched old movies on TV! We also had unique, handwoven Easter Baskets. She taught me how to do it, but it was something I forgot about until I was a lot older and had teenagers of my own. I desperately needed a hobby that I could use to dispell some stress ... and maybe use to come up with gifts for others. It was then that my old basket weaving memories returned and I started exploring patterns, materials, etc.
As any craftsperson will tell you, one basket led to another and another. One new material or trim led to another, one pattern led to making my own patterns and before I knew it, I had a room full of reed, dyes and other supplies. Friends were asking for special baskets to match their kitchens or baths. Others wanted something to use as unique diaper bags and soon thereafter, The Carolina Weaver was born!
My web site offers a variety of basic baskets, everything from ones to hold bath tissue to stairstep baskets. Any and all of them can be designed with trims specially dyed to meet the customer's needs or made in sizes to accomodate anything from 10 pounds of potatoes to supplies for making a quilt. The options are as wide as your imagination!
Please visit me at The Carolina Weaver and let YOUR imagination find ways to include a distinctive, handwoven basket in your home.
