Marie Rodgers, of Savon Marie, has been hand crafting glycerine soap since 1999. It all started with a soap making kit. Marie, who worked as a school librarian in New York City started bringing her hand crafted items to her friends at work. Soon her soaps, lotions and other products were on sale in the school store. Now that she is retired, Marie is devoting more of her time to soap making. There are two product lines. The original line, Savon Marie, was inspired by everything Marie loves about the south of France, and features soap made with goat milk and olive oil. Fragrances include Lavender, French Vanilla Sugar, and Sunflowers. The second line, Blonde in a Bathtub, came to Marie one day as she was in a lather in her bath tub. This line features another of Marie's favorite ingredients, aloe. She says, "I just love what aloe does for the skin. It is soothing and it's also known for its healing properties." Marie, a blonde herself, dedicated this line to famous blondes from the golden age of Hollywood. Popular fragrances in this line include Tea Time with Ginger and Marilyn's Marvelous Melons. Upon their arrival, the doctor said he had invented a new machine that would transfer a portion of the mother's labour pain to the father. He asked if they were willing to try it out. They were both very much in favour of it. The doctor set the pain transfer dial to 10% for starters, explaining that even 10% was probably more pain than the father had ever experienced before. But as the labour progressed, the husband felt fine and asked the doctor to go ahead and bump it up a notch. The doctor then adjusted the machine to 20% pain transfer. The husband was still feeling fine. The doctor checked the husband's blood pressure and was amazed at how well he was doing. At this point they decided to try for 50%. The husband continued to feel quite well. Since it was obviously helping out his wife considerably, the husband encouraged the doctor to transfer ALL the pain to him. The wife delivered a healthy baby with virtually no pain. She and her husband were ecstatic. When they got home, they found the mailman lying dead on their porch. When his 38-calibre revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California, would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and, after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved. The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan , at 5 A.M, flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren't available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away. |

Hayes Unique Boutique Gift Shop came about when I was diagnosed with rectal skin cancer. The news of this hit me with surprise and I was lost for words. But as time went on I got a handle on what was going on in my life. So I asked myself, how many people out there are just like you and dealing with the same thing? I decided to open a gift shop and make custom made things for people who were dealing with some kind of cancer, or a love one that knew someone with this disease. Strength, hope and faith are what you need to overcome something like this. Giving a gift that represents breast or any other kind of cancer can makes someone's day, just knowing that someone cares.
