Two QFLEA Vendors Join Forces to Create New Site

Ruth Blackwell and Tari Hann have been friends for a long time and used to work craft shows together. When they both decided to pursue websites, Ruth with handmade bath/body products and Tari with handmade Barbie clothes, they got too busy to keep doing craft shows. Now, seeing the need to diversify, they started Dolly and Me Fashions, which combines Tari's love of sewing clothes for American Girl dolls and Ruth's passion for sewing in general. This also gives Ruth a chance to sew something larger than bears and bear clothes. At Dolly and Me Fashions, they plan to offer matching girl and 18 inch doll outfits ranging from simple casual outfits to special occasion or princess dresses.

Online Shopping Continues to Increase

U.S. shoppers spent 14 percent more for online holiday spending during the week ending Dec. 18. The $6.3 billion in spending marked the busiest week in online holiday shopping ever, research firm comScore said Tuesday.

Shoppers have spent almost $32 billion online for the holiday season to date, a 15 percent increase from 2010. The period includes the first 48 days of the holiday season during November and December, according to the Virginia company, which tracks Web use.

Online sales passed $1 billion on four separate days during the most recent week, which included Super Saturday, widely known as one of the busiest shopping days of the season each year. The last full weekend before Christmas saw consumers spend $1.04 billion online, making it the second-busiest weekend of online spending on record.

"Cyber Monday" after Thanksgiving, is still the largest online shopping day ever, according to comScore. Sales for that day rose 22 percent from last year to $1.25 billion. Cyber Monday sales topped $1 billion for the first time last year.

Now if we could only get all these shoppers to concentrate on our small business online vendors instead of those big box stores ...

Final Thought

A man sees a big sign in front of a house down the block that says "Talking Dog for Sale." He knocks on the door and the owner tells him that the dog is sitting out in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a mutt just sitting there. He walked over to the dog and asks, "Can you really talk?"

"Yes," the mutt replies.

"So, what's your story?"

The mutt looks up and says, "Well, I discovered this gift pretty young and I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.

I was one of their most valuable spies eight years running. The jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger and I wanted to settle down. So I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings there and was awarded a batch of medals and trophies from the police and sheriff's department's.

I had a few flings in my life, and therefore have had a bunch of puppies, and now I'm just kind of retired and enjoying it all."

The guy is amazed and he goes back to the front door and asks the owner how much money he wants for the dog. The owner says, "You can have him for fifteen dollars."

The guy says, "This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him, so cheap?

"The owner replies, "Because he's an incredible liar. He never did any of those things!"
