Vendor Spotlight: Mildred Lanni

Hi, my name is Mildred Lanni also known as Millie, I am a native of upstate New York, and retired from Aviation Charter Compamy as office manager. Presently I operate Millani's Antique Cottage. I opened my shop in 2003 at the Craft Antique Co-Op in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester. As a growing business, I needed to expand and chose the Internet.

I am doing what I love best as I became more creative I branched out to unique designs, creating things that people want to pass down to family generations. Handcrafting and designing is what I love to do best. Most of my time is spent going to Flea Markets, Auctions, Estate and Garage sales, searching for unusual items to design and transfer to fanciful creations. If I had to describe my style I'd call it Victorian, and Shabby Chic/Cottage Furniture.

How To Give A Cat A Pill - Part Two

Continued from Part One

10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour a shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek, and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Tie the little sucker's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of waterdown throat to wash pill down.

14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15. Arrange for ASPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

By the way ... how do you give a dog a pill?

1. Wrap it in bacon and toss it in the air!

The Recipe Survey Results

As we continue to redesign our newsletter for 2009 and beyond, one of the questions we have been unable to answer is whether or not to include recipes as some members had suggested. We surveyed the readers and found the following results:

Including recipes is a great idea. Let's have one in each edition - 27%
Including recipes is a good idea. Let's do it often - 29%
Including recipes would be fine, once in a while - 28%
Including recipes is not a great idea for this newsletter - 16%

So now that we have the results of the survey, we still do not have a clear opinion on how to proceed. I think what we will do is publish a few next year, certainly not in every edition, and then see what the reaction has been and adjust accordingly. After all, this is your newsletter and we want to publish it the way you want it.

The first recipe will be published in February and the theme will be "Valentine's Day". If you have a creative, interesting, easy-to-create and inexpensive recipe that you think will interest others, please send it to me through this link and we'll pick the one we like and share it with everyone. Please be sure to include your name, hometown and state so that we can properly credit you for your recipe. If you can provide a picture of the finished product, even better. Note: Original recipes please.
